Architectural Draftsperson
The Job
We are looking to hire a draftsperson to assist our team with their drafting workload. We currently require an employee that is able to attend local site measuring visits for addition/renovation projects; therefore applicants must either be local or willing to commute. This is an in-office position.
While we would prefer a candidate with residential drafting and Ontario Building Code Experience; given the specific nature of the work/design standards and training required for any level of candidate, we are willing to train the right candidate from scratch. Candidates without OBC residential architectural experience must possess a college or preferably university level education and high proficiencies in mathematics and spatial concepts, computers and softwares, and problem solving. Plus the general ability to learn quickly with continued oversight and correction.
Responsibilities:
Utilizing Softplan to complete drafting tasks as assigned by the Design Manager
Adherence to the Ontario Building Code throughout the entire design process.
On Site measuring, documenting, and photographing of existing structures for addition/renovation projects.
Providing a breakdown of billable hours per client/project.
Uploading presentation plan images and details as products to our Company Website Utilizing various local and cloud based softwares such as Monday.com, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, Adobe Acrobat, and Shopify
Occasionally answering phone calls and general inquiries
Occasionally printing and preparing blueprints for client pickup
Qualifications
College Diploma in Architectural or Construction Technology or related discipline.
Alternatively, we are also willing to consider students of other mathematics or technology based disciplines with a university level education who are very fast learners.
2-3 years drafting experience, but higher levels are preferred Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects/clients simultaneously.
Customer service experience
Willingness to learn and adapt to the design format, specifications, procedures, and software as specified at Nauta Home Designs.
Strong mathematical ability.
Strong computer/technological proficiency.
Strong problem solving ability.
Ability to take instruction and constructive criticism from fellow designers, president, clients, and municipal authorities with professionalism.
Ability to work occasional overtime.
G Class license, daily use of personal vehicle. (Our location is not on a convenient public transportation route, and designers will need vehicles for measuring and site visit purposes)
Previous experience with Softplan is an asset.
Previous experience with residential construction is an asset
Previous experience with small commercial building design is an asset.
BCIN is an asset
Current resident/citizen of Canada/Ontario Most Importantly:
Qualifications
Salary will vary based on experience, predicted range of $22-25 per hour
This position is located at our office in Welland at 1789 Merrittville Hwy.
At current staffing levels, each employee is allowed their own office.
Personal vehicle required
The hours of work are Monday-Friday 8-4 or 9-5
Following a probationary period, our company offers employees 5 paid personal days per year (with an additional day added each year after 5 years to a maximum of 15 days total) on top of the government legislated 4% (2 weeks) paid vacation (your choice to bank your vacation or have it paid out bi-weekly)
We provide gas/mileage, and expense reimbursement for any company required use of your vehicle or meals required while out on company business.
